South Serves

Image
Hey y'all!! This week I'm going be sharing how I get involve through community service in the Mobile area. South offers an awesome website called South Serves that allows you to find community services events that fit your interest. For example, if your going into the medical field the website will tailor your search results specifically for community service events within the medical field. I have had the opportunity to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and the Ronald McDonald House. With the Habitat for Humanity I had to pleasure of helping repair a house for a family in need by, painting the walls and pulling old nails out of the window seal. With the Ronald McDonald House I was given the opportunity to prepare a meal for the families of ill children. All in all these were two awesome experiences and I highly encourage you to get involved within your community to help those in need and to improve your chances of success in your field!

A Glance into my USA Life

Hello everyone! So this past week has been pretty stressful for me. I had two midterms and a paper due in History. However, I still managed to remain sane and even have a little fun with my friends. At the beginning of the week I had the privilege of attending the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs- Soul Food Luncheon. It was an full of entertainment and good food in representation of Black History Month. To the right is a picture of how nicely the Student Center Ballroom was decorated for the event. That night I had to crack open my textbook and begin studying for my Biology midterm. Hopefully, I did pretty good. Towards to end of the week I got to relax a bit and enjoy time with my friends. We watched movies and played hide and seek with our RAs. Overall my college experience has been nothing short of amazing! I'm sure you all will feel same way soon.                                    ...

Life Lessons: College Edition

Image
Being in college has taught me many things that are useful outside the classroom. For example, I have learned how to multitask through my job as a Jag Guide. I have established leadership skills by becoming the secretary of a student organization and I gained communication skills by actively socializing with others. I have also learned how to live on my own, which I think is exciting considering you don't have to depend on your parents anymore. Anyhow, I feel that college is definitely a time for growth and you will learn many life lessons along the way.

This semester I am extremely excited for chemistry class because of all the new information I'll get to learn about the contents of the earth. For example, what elements make up the earth. As well as, the fun experiments I'll get to perform in the lab. For example, being able to make aspirin the common pain reliever or an air bag. Lastly, I am excited about facing a new challenge and accomplishing my goal of passing chemistry class.
